The work behind the tool

Software does not replace knowing what you are doing. These are the skills social growth actually runs on, written to be useful whether or not you ever use Quillen: what each one is, how to do it, and the mistakes that make most attempts fail.

Start here

Stage 03 of five, Sound like yourself. The other four are worth reading in any order.

Three adjectives are not a voice

Listening, scoring and scheduling all decide who reads you. The voice decides whether anyone answers, and it is the only one of the five that every other stage has to agree with. Write it down first and the rest of this page has something to be consistent about. Leave it and you will do all the work of reaching the right person, then sound like everyone else who reached them.

How these are written

Every page has the same shape: a definition you could quote, the parts that are genuinely hard, a set of steps, the common mistakes, and the questions people actually ask. Each one ends with a short, clearly separated note on how Quillen handles that particular thing, including where it does not. The rest of the page is not about us.

Knowing the work is half of it

The other half is doing it every day without it eating the day. Quillen finds the conversations, drafts in a voice built from your own writing, and waits for you to approve before anything posts.
